DIRECTIONS
Take the Original Hillary Trail: Enjoy the advantage of losing the tourists as you trek through quiet Sherpa villages. Only 30 minutes additional of trekking time is needed to reach The Beyul Hermitage + Farm.
From Lukla: Follow the Everest trail to Ghat. As you descend the hill into Ghat, turn left just past the Eco-Village Lodge at the Australian camp (orange tents). Follow the local trail around the hill and take the bridge across the Dudh Kosi. Keep right and follow the wide trail near the Dudh Kosi river. At the village of Charmadingma near the top of the hill, turn left and climb up towards Chhuserma. Don’t turn off too early, as we are at the top of the hill below the old lama’s hermitage and to the left just past the cow barn. Look for our green roof and signs to The Beyul Hermitage + Farm.

From Phakding: As you descend towards Phakding and before you enter the village on the Everest trail, take the bridge that crosses the Dudh Kosi river on your right. At the beginning of the wide stone steps, take the smaller local trail on your left (the steps will lead you to the Pema Choling monastery). Follow this trail through the forest to Sano-Gomela past the mani wall and chorten. Keep the school on your left and turn right for a few steps before descending into the river valley below on your left. Cross the bridge and climb up to the village of Chhuserma. You’ll pass farms and Sherpa homes before descending again, but keep to the right for a short climb up to the sign marking The Beyul Hermitage + Farm. We are at the top of the rocks below the old lama’s hermitage and to the left, just past the cow barn. Look for our green roof and signs to The Beyul Hermitage + Farm.
